We’re taking JunkCycle to the Green Dragon pitch
We’re one of five companies pitching at MEIA’s Green Dragon’s Lair. Here’s what we’re bringing in five minutes on stage.

Big news from the JunkCycle team: we’re one of five companies pitching at the Green Dragon’s Lair Pitch Competition, run by the Manitoba Environmental Industries Association (MEIA).
How it works
Each company gets five minutes on stage, followed by three minutes of questions from the judges. This year’s judges come from Manitoba Innovates, Wawanesa Insurance and Miller Environmental. We’re pitching alongside Action Intelligence Group, OpticAg, Typha Co. and White Otter Biotech.
There are two prizes: a $10,000 Grand Prize from Manitoba Innovates, and a $5,000 Audience Choice Award sponsored by Wawanesa Insurance, voted on by everyone in the room.
What we’re pitching
The idea behind JunkCycle is simple. Most junk removal is built around one question: how fast can it get to the dump? We ask a different one: what can this become next?
So we pick up what homes and businesses no longer need, sort it, and match each item to reuse first, recycling next and landfill last. Households book in our app in minutes. Businesses get recurring pickups, plus a record of where every tonne went.
The proof we’re bringing
We won’t just be talking about an idea. We’ll be talking about real jobs:
- 30+ tonnes kept out of landfill so far, and counting.
- A full building clear-out for Magellan Aerospace in Winnipeg: 120 wooden crates reused as sea-cargo packaging, and six granite slabs repurposed as warehouse mounting surfaces. Nothing went to landfill.
- A standing monthly crate pickup that came out of that project.
The most sustainable crate is the one that never needs to be made.
Why it matters
Every crate that gets reused is a crate that doesn’t need to be built from new wood. Every slab that becomes a work surface is one less thing crushed and buried. Multiply that across a city, and the numbers start to matter.
Follow along
We’ll share how it goes, right here on the blog. In the meantime, if your home or business has something that deserves a second life, book a pickup or get a business quote.
